Some Perfectly Sorted tips to help you dream a little dream
With the world a little upside down amidst these unusual times with COVID-19, we are all experiencing change and disruption. This is occuring daily with our home life, work life and school life.
If you are anything like my family, restful sleep is no longer the norm. Being thrown into isolation at home with your entire family, day in day out, can really play with your mind.
Quality sleep is important for strong immunity and mental clarity, at any time, but particularly in times of stress. And if you’re not sleeping well, there’s a good chance your messy or cluttered bedroom could be partly to blame. Creating a space that is quiet, dark and decluttered is part of ensuring a great night’s sleep.
Our expert tips to organising your bedroom will have you deep in slumber in no time…
Things that go bump in the night
A messy, cluttered bedroom can be stressful, and even dangerous. If you have more clothes on the floor than your actual wardrobe, it’s time to pick them up. Not only will it create space in your room, and your mind, you’ll avoid tripping over them in the middle of the night.
Welcoming romance (and relaxation) in
A bedroom is for sleep, romance and dressing. Anything not related to these tasks does not belong here.
Take a look around your bedroom at the moment – what doesn’t belong there? You want to ensure that when you walk into your bedroom, your mind is not consumed with any unrelated objects other than for sleep (or romance <3).
This includes kids’ toys, gym gear, laptops, ironing board or craft projects. Store these items away neatly out of view and bring calm and relaxation back into your bedroom.
Beautiful things make us happy
It’s no secret that beautiful bedrooms make for beautiful sleep. This is why most of us love hotel rooms – they’re usually styled using gorgeous fabrics, stylish accessories and sumptuous bedding. There’s nothing more inviting than a bed with crisp linen, a pretty cushion or a special reading lamp.
If your bedroom is looking more shabby than shabby chic, now might be the time to upgrade your bedroom décor. With the cooler months upon us, it could be as simple as adding a snuggly new throw and comfy cushions. A small investment can result in a major change.
At Perfectly Sorted, we secretly love a beautiful sleeping space, and any bedroom space can be easily transformed with the addition of cushions, throws, lamps or art.
Whether you’re organising and decorating your master bedroom, your toddlers hideout, or your teenager’s “no one can enter!” cave, we have the perfect soft furnishing and accessories in-store, online, and available for local delivery.
Now’s the time to switch off
We’ve all become accustomed to being switched on and connected to cyberspace 24/7, which can play havoc on your sleep and relaxation time.
Your bedroom should be a serene sanctuary, so turn off the TV and your phone at least thirty minutes before it’s time for sleep. Instead of scrolling and tapping, consider a warm shower, a cup of herbal tea and enjoy some of that book you’ve been meaning to read.
Simple changes to your wind-down routine at night can make an incredible difference to your sleep, and how you feel the following day.
Taking care of our physical and mental health during these times of change and uncertainty is essential, and a good sleep is a great place to start.
